Most home network routers don't have a host name, although it is possible to give it a host name using a DNS server. I'm assuming that you wish to configure the router, and for that all you need is it's IP.
You need to be connected to your router to perform these steps (either by WiFi or ethernet cable).
In Windows 7 click start type "cmd" without quotes in the search field & hit enter.
For Windows XP click start>run type "cmd" & press enter
Inside the the command prompt (a blackbox with white text) type "ipconfig" without quotes and press enter.
You will be presented with you network info, look for "Default Gateway" next to it there will be your routers IP (e.g. 192.168.1.1), your number may be different.
After you have gotten the number type it into the url field of your web browser and you should see a configuration page for your router.
