The first place you will go is to a MEPS station where you will take the ASVAB (unless you have taken the entrance exam previously). At MEPS you will be given a physical exam, and receive your orders for basic training. You will take a bus or plane to your BT duty station on the date ordered. There you will learn all that is necessary for you to become a soldier. When Basic Training is completed, you will receive orders for your AIT (Advance Individual Training); OSUT (One Station Unit Training) is a distinct possibility if your MOS (Military Operating Specialty) is 13B-Z (Field Artillery) and your BT station is Ft. Sill, you will be OSUT, likewise if your MOS is 11B, C, X, or Z (Infantry) and your BT station is Forts Dix, Gordon, Leonard Wood, or Bragg, you will likely be an OSUT. Armor trains at Ft. Campbell, MPs train at Leonard Wood. Ask your recruiter for details. Once you have completed Basic, and graduated from AIT, you will receive orders for your permanent duty station with a reporting date.
