The key with this question is letting them know you have a realistic goal and have given your future a lot of thought. And you must let them know your plan to get from A to B to C so they can evaluate your ability to think logically.

During an interview process you may be asked what your five year plan is. This gives an employer an idea where you see yourself in the future and what you want to do.
I want to be a leader in the work I perform.
Seeing yourself five, ten or fifteen years from now is a good way to help you reach your goals. Making a list will help you reach these goals. Some people see themselves married or with a new job, while other see themselves retiring and enjoying the grandchildren.
To answer this question you must focus on where you are now. You also want to highlight what you are working towards.

The employer wants to know what you are expecting of yourself. They want to know if you are expecting to advance or just want to work for a paycheck.
