This question is most likely to be asked in a setting where there is some "opportunity for growth" in the company. This means that there is a possibility of gaining a promotion, taking on more responsibility, transferring to an area you can move up in, and so on.
It's a tricky question because companies don't like to take someone on who is going to leave right away. It costs the company something to train an employee. That training is an investment that pays off when you stick around and gain experience, become good at what you do, and maybe show that you can make a bigger contribution. You want to look good enough to move up, but not too fast. (If it's a dead-end job, chances are they won't ask you this.) Sometimes people get points for a bold answer such as "I'd like to have your job." But more likely a hiring manager or supervisor aof entry-level people is going to feel threatened by that.
So you can say (if true) things like these: "I'd like to move into management." "I'd like to gain enough skill and experience to move up." "I'd like to learn as much as I can so I can make a bigger contribution." "I'd like to get involved in training."
Or you can speak about the particular business: "I'd like to learn all I can about [running a radio station | managing a coffee shop | product purchasing | inventory management] because I'm interested in someday [...whatever...]."
If you are really applying for the type of job where the right answer is "I want to run my own group, manage [a large territory | a large staff | a major project | an important division], and be on a fast track to the top," you won't be looking here for help.
