where does clover come from
in the early 1800's, the phrase "pigs in clover" was a euphism where clover subbed for manure. A popular parlor game in the 1890's was called "Pigs in Clover".
I have before me a jug that formerly held 4/5 quart of STRAIGHT CORN WHISKEY bottled by McCormick Distilling Co. Weston, MO. It has a "PLATTE VALLEY" brand.

In Irish tradition, a three leaf clover, a Shamrock supposedly represents the Holy Trinity - The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. If a four leaf clover is found, then the fourth leaf is considered to bring God's Grace.
