If your talking about in Twilight, the first book, then after the very first time he meets Bella in Biology at school, he runs to Alaska to stay with the Denali Clan for awhile to try and stay away from Bella because the smell of her blood over whelms him, and is too strong for him, and he doesn't want to kill her even though he thought about it the day he met her in class. But he then relizes that being away from her drives him to crazy, so he returns home to Forks {Though he doesn't technacly live in Forks} :)
