In the book, the first letter arrives addressed to his cupboard so the Dursleys move him into the smallest bedroom in the house. This was cut from the movie.
He lives with his relations, the Dursleys, in Little Whinging (fictional town in Surrey).

J.K Rowling has 10 books. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Or Sorcerer's Stone if you live in the US) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Quidditch Through the Ages Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them The Tales of Beedle The Bard The first book J.K.R ever wrote was called Rabbit, she wrote it at the age of 4 and it was never published. So it's 11 books if you count Rabbit.
It is not exactly clear when J.K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was first published in the UK in June 1997 and the second followed in June 1998. In the US, it was published a year later in June 1999.It is known that J.K. Rowling struggled to finish the second book because she was worried it might not live up to the hype of the first one and that after handing in the completed, she took it back for a further six weeks of revisions. So the book was finished no earlier than August 1997, then of course there would have been revisions with the editor.
The Harry Potter books are set in England, not in the USA.

At first, Harry converses with a real live snake, who shares feelings with him. Then in the second book, all harry has to encourage him is the movement of the snake. This is what he has to do to get into the chamber of secrets- he visualizes the snake moving.so, basically, all you have to do is get a live snake that knows how to do the tango, and bingo! Snake language.
