Queen Margrethe II of Denmark (born 1940) is still alive and she lives at the Amalienborg Castle (build in the 1750 - 1760's, and Royal residence since 1794 when the Christiansborg Castle was completely destroyed by a fire) in central Copenhagen. The Summers are traditionally spend at Marselisborg Castle in Århus (second biggest city in Denmark, located on eastern shore of the Jutland peninsula. During Spring and Autumn vacations she relocates to Fredensborg Castle north of Copenhagen. Ad hoc vacations often go to Château de Cayx in her husband's native France.
