Heater core leaking?
Windshield seal leaking?
Door seal leaking?
Evaporator drain plugged?
1999 ford escort zx2. Won 't come out of park after starting. Any way to bypass possible switches to get to shop?
The cam shaft sensor on a 1999 ford escort is on the intake side of the engine just below the intake manifold. The intake manifold has to come off to take the CS sensor off.
Heating hoses are exposed and need to be replaced. The heater core is leaking coolant.
Replace the gasket on the transmission pan and insect the seals on the transmission where your driveshafts come out
When it cracks out (most common failure) it has to be replaced. It's between the engine and the transmission which must come out to get to it.
most of the ecm on the 1997-1999 escort is on the floor right in front of the stick there are panels on both sides that come off pretty easy and you will be able to see it right in the middle hope this helps
perhaps it is water from the air conditioner, sometimes the drain hoses come loose.
You could have a seal leaking around a door or if you have a sunroof the drain holes might be plugged. Most cases of water leaking into the floorboard would be a plugged ac drain in the evaporater case. If you notice on a hot summer day and your ac is on that if you leave it parked, you will see water on the ground. This is from water draining out of the case, but if the drain becomes plugged it will build up in the case and slosh around and sometimes come into the floorboard.
The belt that I used my my 1999 ford escort ZX2 is a 6K730 to bypass the A/C. when routing the difference is the belt will come from the power steering to the tension pulley to the crank then water pump and the rest is normal. I hope this helps
if your ligjts don't come on unbolt the switch just above the brake pedal, if your lights stay on its actually a switch bumper thats om the pedal noted by broken plastic on your floorboard usually blue I just loosened the switch and moved it closer to my pedal no problem since
With average skill it takes about 4 hours. The water pump is driven by the timing belt. The timing belt has to come off in order to do it. While you are in there and have the belt off anyway, at the time change the belt. It's only about $37 and is good insurance that it won't break out on the highway leaving you stranded.
I have the same problem when it rains, water is coming out of the front pannel when i turn near the fuse box I had this same problem finally took it to Pontiac and told me i was missing a drain hose ..just a small elbow hose that you have to be a contortionist to put it on. paid a mech 20.00 to do it for me.. it is on the out side of the fire wall and if you dont have it to water will come in under the rug..hope this helps
