What is the difference between a medical assistant and a medical administrative assistant?

An Administrative Medical Assistant would be a well-paid secretary, perhaps to a teaching physician or a hospital administrator. A Medical Records Clerk would do clerical work, filing and pulling medical records, perhaps placing the transcribed medical records on the patient's chart, answering the phone, general clerical work, not very high paying. A medical assistant can do the functions of a medical records clerk if there is no records clerk in the office but a records clerk could not perform certain duties of a medical assistant.

Is ccma with NHA National or State certification?

It's technically a national certification, based on the fact that many different states across the country recognize it as a valid and accredited certifying agency. But, you should really check with your local employers, as the ultimate goal of getting the certification is to be get a job afterwards. If 3 out of the top 4 employers you want to work for all say they recognize it, you're probably golden since the organization has been growing larger and larger, gaining more and more credibility in the industry over the past 24 years. It's bound to grab the attention of that 4th employer in your area by the time you'd need a job there.
