If you have an external graphics card, it will be located in the agp slot on your motherboard. If you open the case on your computer, you should be able to see it. The agp slot is often at the top of and of a different colour to the PCI slots. Cards which are mounted on the motherboard are called onboard graphics cards and are a different matter. Consult your motherboard manual for layout and for where the onboard graphics card should be.

When you open up your PC you should see a row of empty, long slots, most of the time these are placed horizontal on your motherboard, probably there is a metal plate which you should first remove, it keeps the casing closed when there's no graphics card etc. plugged in, the rest is easy. By the way: these slots can also be used for sound cards, network cards, TV cards, etc.

Consulting the manufacturer of either the computer (like HP or Dell), or the manufacturer of the Motherboard itself is usually the best. There should be a web page about your exact model.

If you do not know the model of your PC or your Motherboard, Crucual.com has a great scanner that can provide you with the information you need.

There are three primary types of install able graphics cards, they are (from worst to best) PCI, AGP, and PCI Express.

PCI cards only come in one type and speed, generally slow.

AGP Cards came in 4 speeds and relative types. They are 1X, 2X, 4X, and 8X. Each different speed requires a slightly different voltage and Motherboard slot.

PCI Express cards have different types of slots and speeds. PCI Express 1X, 4X, 8X, and 16X, PCI Express 1.0, 2.0 and 2.1. Generally the Higher the numbers the better. The newest Motherboards have PCI Express X16 2.1 slots for the primary graphics card add0on slot.

Once you find out what slot your PC has, NewEgg.com is probably your best bet for finding the best graphics card for your needs.

Well, it depends upon Home PC or laptop, but they are in quite accessible slots, often generically labelled "graphics card" or similar, or in a laptop on the underside behind one of the access panels, sometimes labelled.

it is located on a panel just north west to you if you keep the CPU power button facing you and the CPU lying down .

you can also check it by following the display wire or the wire of the monitor

the panel to which it is connected is the Graphics card panel and the chip type structure providing the slot is the graphics card .

On some computers including laptops the video card is built into the motherboard. On others it is connected to a slot. By opening the computer case you can look for where the computer monitor cable connects into and this is your video card.
