Well, bless Pete! I can't imagine that no one has responded to this. I've heard this expression all my life. My mother always used it and I guess I picked it up from her. You use it in the same way you would use:
Well, I'll be darned!
Well, I'll be damned!
Imagine that!
Well, wha d'ya know!
In other words, "Well, bless Pete!"
I imagine that it has some connection to St. Peter.
