The first route Circe gives to Odysseus would send him through the Wandering Rocks. This route has only been navigated successfully one time. The rocks effectively destroy any ship that attempts to sail through them.

Circe sends Odysseus to the Land of the Dead to seek guidance from the prophet Teiresias. She instructs him to consult Teiresias about how to navigate the challenges he faces on his journey home to Ithaca. This visit is crucial for Odysseus to gain valuable insights into the trials ahead and to learn how to appease the gods, ensuring his safe return.
because the goddess Athena calls a council of the gods at Olympus and convinces Zeus to let Odysseus return. The gods then send Hermes as messenger to bring the news of Zeus's will to Calypso who reluctanly agrees to let Odysseus go.

He doesn't escape, he's let go. After Zeus says it's time to send Odysseus home, he describes what will happen on this last leg of the journey. Then, he send Hermes to tell Calypso it's time to send Odysseus away. She gives Odysseus some tools, they go into the forest and he builds himself a ship. She gives him some cloth, he makes sails. She supplies him and send him on his way.
Odysseus outsmarts Calypso by convincing the gods to intervene on his behalf and secure his release from her island. He appeals to her sense of pity by expressing his longing to return home to his wife and kingdom. Calypso eventually relents and allows Odysseus to build a raft and depart from her island.
The Phaeacians sent Odysseus back to Ithaca thanks to their king, King Alcinous.
