Their is a fight with the Cullen's and the werewolfs working to gether to save Bella from Victorias band of blood thirsty newborn vampires that are only trying to kill Bella. Jacob talks with Bella when they are alone and Jacob trickes Bella into Kissing him becasue if she didn't kiss him he was going to kill himself in the battle. Edward finds out but is not mad at all. he comferts Bella becasue she feels really bad about kissing Jacob. Jacob gets hurt in the fight and a few days after the fight Bella visits Jacob and tells him that she loves him but she is going to pick edward and not him. she feels horrible and Jacob leaves. Edward is a vampire. Although Jacob is a werewolf, he is more human than Edward is. Edward means that Jacob can give Bella a normal human life, a normal human marriage, a normal human family and a normal human death. Edward reckons that by turning Bella into a vampire, it will get rid of her soul and she'll live immortally forever with Edward, which is what she wants. Although to a certain extent, this isn't what Edward wants for Bella, even though he wants to stay with her forever, no matter how old she gets.

I believe that he gets a bit jealous because he wants to give Bella things even though Bella thinks he already give her everything. But I think he is also concerned about her safety. Edward knows all along what Jacob is so he doesn't want Bella around him from the start just in case she grows too attached or Jacob phases and hurts her.
