"Kaitlin" is an Irish form of "Katharine"/"Catherine".

This name is probably Greek, but nobody knows its real origin.

It might be derived from Greek "Ekaterine", which might mean "each of the two". Perhaps it was a name given to one of twins?

In the Middle Ages, scholars guessed (almost certainly wrongly) that it was related to the Greek word for "pure". That is why they started spelling it with an A in the middle.

But "Kaitlin" doesn't have any vowel in the middle, so you can take either meaning as the one you prefer.
