All over. Sorry, but this question cannot be answered because it is too vague. There are many, many different kinds of lizards, and they come from virtually every corner of the planet. Where they come from depends on species.

There seems to be a general consensus on where the word "lizard" comes from. An understandable opinion is that the word is derived from "LACERTA", which was latin for arm. People used to describe lizards as serpents with arms, so shortening the description to "arms" or "lacerta" became the norm. See references below

; lizard : "an animal resembling a serpent, with legs added to it" [Johnson], 1377, from Anglo-Fr. lusard, from O.Fr. lesard (fem. laisarde), from L. lacertus (fem. lacerta) "lizard," of unknown origin, perhaps from PIE base *leq- "to bend, twist."

the English word lizardderived from the Old French word lizard derived from the Classical Latin word lacerta (lizard; Spanish mackerel)

derived from the Old French word lesarde derived from the Latin word lacertus (upper arm, arm, shoulder)

This comes from "MyEtymology.com", a website where you can look up or research different words, their origins, adn their definitions.

The Concise Oxford Dictionary of English Etymology version:

lizard XIV. ME. lesard(e) - OF. lesard, -arde (mod. léz-), repr. L. lacertus, lacerta, which appears to be identical with lacertus muscle.
