Where does the fruit in Stonyfield Farm yogurt come from?
Asked in Gelatin
Does stonyfield farms yogurt contain gelatin?
No, Stonyfield does not have gelatin in it. I have been a vegetarian for over 15 years, I always check labels. It is safe. Other gelatin free yogurts that come to mind are Chobani Greek yogurt, Silk soy yogurt, Whole Soy yogurt (my favorite soy yogurt, much creamier and tastier than competitors), and there are others but I have forgotten all of them. Always check the labels. Also remember, Kosher gelatin is just as bad as non Kosher gelatin. All gelatin is bad, and comes from animal sources. When in doubt, email or call the company.

What are the various types of yogurts?
There are a lot of types of yogurts based on flavor, fat content, sugar content, brand and method of production. In terms of flavor, they can come in a variety of fruit flavors. Yogurt can be full fat, low fat or nonfat. It can have full sugar or no sugar. There is "regular" yogurt and Greek style yogurt, depending on how the yogurt is strained.

Asked in Flies
Do fruit flies come from fruit?
They come from eggs that might be laid in rotten food substances. It takes 48 hours for them to turn into fruit flies, that is why it seams that they come from nowhere when all it is is that they reproduce really fast. Asked in Dieting and Weight Loss, Yogurt
Is yoghurt fattening?
Almost any food is fattening if eaten in large quantities. Yogurt is a food that has important nutrients with a moderate amount of calories. Eight (US) ounces of PLAIN yogurt has 143 calories. When fruit, sugar, or other flavors are added, the calorie count rises. You need to compare the calorie content of the brands and flavors when you're shopping for yogurt or any foods. There are few companies that still sell yogurt in 8 oz. containers. This is marketing. As the container sizes shrink, the price does not. A 5 oz. container will have fewer calories from the amount of yogurt in them, but the calories will also come from the additives. By mixing your own flavors using plain yogurt, you will control the amount of sugar, honey, fruit, etc. and therefor the calorie content. The key is to educate yourself on the calorie count of the foods you like.
