Heat rises, if you have a single unit serving the whole house there may be some air balancing needed to get more air upstairs. Is there a return grille upstairs? If not adding one will help. I am assuming you ac unit is maintained and operating properly and there are no issues with it.

The refrigerator takes heat from one place and puts it somewhere else - it is in effect a "heat pump". What you propose can be done, if the heat the refrigerator takes out is taken outside the house. Since this air conditioner puts out 8,000 btu's it shouldnt give out any heat in the house at all .
Because heat rises and obviously upstairs is higher than downstairs so the heat will rise to upstairs.

Might be a blockage in the ductwork somewhere.
Heat rises, so unless your roof insulation is really crappy, the upstairs and attic will always be warmer.
By moving the warmer air from upstairs back down. There are systems available that can be installed to do this for you, or you can make your own.
