The basic idea of a thread is to be able to program different things that will be executed simultaneously.
Chelicerae.
They are jointed, as in other animals, work in much the same way, by muscles; but the orb spider also uses its legs to gauge the distance from the completed turn to the one it is spinning, and to set the new thread in place. Watch one making a web - it is a fascinating process.
