most wool comes from goats. It is their hair.
Merino wool came originally from Spain.
Wool and meat.
Wool is a naturally-occuring fiber produced from sheep, angora goats, llamas, and alpacas. Wool has an oil in it called Lanolin. There is nothing special about Lamb's Wool other than the fact that it came from a younger sheep.
There are many different types of commercial wool available for knitting and crocheting. The types can be pure wool or wool blends. Each type of wool varies by the animal that the wool comes from (sheep, goats, alpaca, etc.), the grade/quality of the wool, how the wool was prepared/spun, and if the wool is blended with another material such as acrylic. Even with non-commercial wool there would be many variants based upon the type of animal that the wool came from, the grade/quality of the wool, how the wool was prepared and spun, the skill of the person preparing the wool. I have purchased home spun wool that varied greatly in thickness thoughout the entire skein making it difficult to use in a pattern where exact sizing is important.
Some cheap coats are filled with a slightly less expensive wool. The wool is less expensive due to the animal it came from. Other types of wool maybe higher in quality which is another price difference.

I think you are looking for lanolin, used in many skin lotions.
Flannel originally came from wool and originated in Wales, though the word itself is believed to be French in origin. Today flannel fabric is made from wool, cotton, or even synthetic sources.
Some wool is just naturally scritchy, depending on the breed of sheep the wool came from. For example Suffolks wool is very scritchey where as baby doll sheep have very soft wool. You can sometimes get wool to felt, making it a bit softer, by lot of use/wear, washing it with lots of fabric softner in very hot water over and over again and by also drying it on a hot setting. It will shrink a bit, sometimes quite a bit so be sure you are ok with that happening, but it will become softer.
Theseus took a ball of yarn/wool and tied it to a rock at the entrance of the Labyrinth. He then unravelled it behind him until he came to the Minotaur. He had a fight with the Minotaur, killed it then followed the yarn/wool back to the entrance of the cave.
Dogs do not have wool. No types of dogs have wool.
NO I personally think it is! Because we were playing a game and that question came up and the answer was that it is made with sheep wool! Yes, Natural Sheep's Wool has a lanolin grease that comes off of it when the wool is scoured and cleaned at the correct temperatures. This grease accounts for 50% of the weight before scouring. The grease is sold to the cosmetics industry and that includes lipstick as a natural base for these products. www.blackmountaininsulationusa.com
