The earth is made out of various plates. These plates constantly move around and shift their places. In short, there are always earthquakes but we do not feel them because of the low amplitude. When there is high disturbance in the climate these plates produce very high amplitude which cause devastating earthquakes. Earth is only 30% of land so there are very less earthquakes on land than water, which one could argue that's the reason for all these tsunamis and floods.
Wow some earthquakes start in the ocean
Yes. Most do start on land
Earthquakes in or near the ocean start tsunamis.
They're not exactly considered beneficial. They are inevitable and unavoidable.
We do not know exactly but we know that there was a big earthquake in 1998
the plates underground start to shake
Earthquakes IN the water? No. Earthquakes UNDER the water, yes - underwater earthquakes cause most of the Tsunamis, including the one that hit Indonesia a couple of years ago. Yes There are earthquakes under the water; many of them start there.
Yes earthquakes start at the epicentre and in waves the energy ripples out across continents giving us the shaking feeling like an earthquake is happening.
Earthquakes have been occurring for millions of years due to the movement of tectonic plates in the Earth's crust. The specific start date of earthquakes cannot be pinpointed as they have been a natural occurrence throughout geological history.
That heat from the earth's mantle causes the tectonic or lithospheric plates of the earth's crust to move away or toward each other is the reason why earthquakes start.
animals would start to leave.
Christchurch, New Zealand, can experience small earthquakes on a daily basis due to its location near the boundary of the Pacific and Australian tectonic plates. However, the frequency and size of these earthquakes can vary, and it is not accurate to say that the city experiences exactly 2 mini earthquakes every day.
