That is Donatello's marble David (not his bronze one!) in the Bargello museum.
The statues in the Piazza Vecchio, by the entrance, are a replica of Michelangelo's David on the left, and the statue on the right is Hercules and Cacus, by Bandinelli. To the right in the Loggio dei Lanzi in the Piazza della Signoria there are other statues - Perseus holding Medusa's head, and the Rape of the Sabine Women. Hope this helps!
The Statue of Liberty is holding the torch in her right hand.
If you mean Michelangelo's David he is holding a stone for his sling.
The right hand.
she is holding the scales of fairness or the scales of justice.
We just got back from Florence and that was my first impression of the statue as well when I saw it. Someone there explained that the statue was intended to be placed at the top of a building instead of at ground level where it currently sits. As such, from a distance the hand would have been plainly visible however not so much out of proportion which I agree it certainly is.
She holds the torch in her right hand. In her left hand, Lady Liberty holds a tablet inscribed with the date "July 4, 1776," commemorating the date the Declaration of Independence was signed and America was founded.
On the statue of liberty, Miss Liberty is carrying the torch in her right hand.
It was an important sculpture when it was made. It was a symbol for the strength of Florence. David is young but he is also muscular and very strong looking. He is at the moment right before he loads his sling, and his gaze is intent upon the giant he must kill. The skill with which the statue was made is another reason it is so very important.
statue of liberty is right handed
Actually the statue of Shakespeare in the church at Stratford is not his grave marker--his grave is in the floor and has that famous verse about disturbing his bones. The statue is attached to the wall and shows Shakespeare holding a pen in his right hand, not surprisingly for a writer. His arms rest on a pilowlike object which some people think is a sack.
The statue on the left is holding up 5 fingers...that's where number five is 34 is below the statue on the right 32 is above the doorway in black letters
