Winco foods was started in 1967 in Boise Idaho. It was then known as the Waremart Food Centers and Cub Foods. Owned by two separate families. On amalgamation in 1999 the stores all changed to Winco Foods which stands for Winning Company.

Yes there is! You can find great deals if you live in Nevada, Washington, California, Oregon and Idaho at Winco. They have coupons online and don't require lots of information. There is also Albertsons that you can "like" on facebook and recieve coupons for free.
The "Idaho Potato" seems to be fairly popular. I'm not sure if Idaho actually claims it as a "national food".
