It wasn't flies that caused the black death, it was in fact fleas carried by black rats which came to England aboard ships from China in 1348. The ships came carrying silks and to trade. The first cases of the black death were reported in Weymouth Dorset before spreading to London. The great fire of London they say is what stopped the black death but that opens up another shed full of history then. hope this bit of info has helped =)
