Where you place your HDMI component will depend on what type of television you have. The best thing to do is to consult the users guide or manual in order to find out where the component is installed.
It allows you to connect component cables into a HDMI connector/cable on the tv set.
Use the component connectors instead.
if you want high quality a HDMI port, but if you want a tv cheaper an AV/Component port
It will have a HDMI or a component connectors.
Just get an HDMI cable if you don't already have one then plug it into the port underneath where you normally put the av cables on your 360. Then plug the other end into your HDMI port on your tv and you're all set. (TV must be HDMI compatible, and make sure the input is on HDMI, not component or anything)
You cannot convert one to the other. HDMI is digital, and has built-in Digital Rights Management (copy protection). Component is analog and has no protection. Some upper model surround receivers can 'up convert' component to HDMI, but will not allow HDMI sources to play on a TV with only component video inputs.
The 3 COMPONENT cables are to be used if you don't have the HDMI connector.
Usually, an HDMI component is used to connect a TV or Computer Monitor to a High Definition T.V. Contact your local hardware experts, with the type of model TV you have and the ask if they have the best necessary component to use if you are not sure.
hdmi or component cables
HDMI is a connection plug on the back of HDTVs to allow other devices to be connected to the HDTV. Before HDMI they used S Video and Component connections to connect devices
An hdmi cable helps to project the best quality picture and sound. They outperform component cables and all new tvs are made with hdmi ready components built in to their sets.
Assuming you have already tried unplugging the hdmi cable, and re-attaching it to make sure it is tight..... First, I would figure out if the hdmi output is bad on the DVD player, or if the hdmi input is bad on the tv, or if the hdmi cable is bad. Of course to do this, you would need a second hdmi capable tv, another hdmi source device and another hdmi cable. Once you figure out the source of the problem, decide it that component is worth replacing. Or, just run component.
