depends on the person, how you see and understand things, and how you put these things to use in your life. i guess they can if you are studying the bible without an open heart ready for new concepts (in other words you shouldn't read it, expecting an answer already and being stubborn by twisting everything around to fit that expected answer. then it is pointless to study the bible.)
