No where in The Bible does it say not to pray over your food in public. No matter where you are know that God has supplied it and offer thanks for it. You do not have to stand up and get everyone's attention. Just silently bow your head and thank God for His goodness.
This is not specifically prescribed although giving thanks is an acknowledgment of the ultimate origin of the food, although human effort went into getting it on the table. Believers ask God to bless the food also as a sign that they acknowledge God's care in this a basic necessity.
I'm not perfectly sure whether it exactly states that you have to pray before eating. But seeing that, we are told to say thanks for the food we eat in prayers it seems like it's true.
