The approximate value of pi is 3.14159265.
The Wikipedia link that I posted has some historical information about Pi, including references to the Bible. Both of these [1 Kings 7:23 and 2 Chronicles 4:2] reference measurements of a round basin in front of the Temple, stating that it is 10 cubits across and 30 cubits circumference. This would imply a value of 3 for pi. The article is interesting, and it contains various formulas that have been used to approximate the value of pi.
The approximate value of pi up to the fifth decimal place is 3.14159
