Prithvi Narayan Shah was the first king of the unified Nepal. He unified Nepal, which had been weakened by the Mall confederacy. He succeeded his father to the throne of the Gorkha Kingdom in 1743. Shah helped unified Nepal when it was divided into nearly 50 different principalities.
