Usually to the left of the points window when looking at it from the side. That does NOT mean someone hasn't changed it though. Remember you're dealing with a 40 year old car. It doesn't actually matter which one it is. Set the engine to TDC for #1 and pull the cap and see which wire tower the rotor is point at. That's the number one on YOUR car. The easiest way to be sure you're not at #6 instead of #1 (180 degrees out) take off the driver side valve cover and watch the intake valve. When it closes, turn the crank until the timing mark is at zero. Now the engine is at TDC for #1.
