Anywhere outside of it's natural range. The natural range of the American alligator is from eastern Texas/extreme southeastern Oklahoma, southern Arkansas, Louisiana, southern Mississippi, southern Alabama, southern Georgia, Florida, eastern South Carolina, eastern North Carolina, and extreme southeastern Virginia (Great Dismal Swamp.) If they are spotted elsewhere they are likely released or escaped pets.
