It very well may not have one. Go to an auto parts store that sells Purolator filters such as Advance Auto Parts, and ask for a cabin filter for this vehicle. If it does indeed have one the Purolator filter comes with complete instructions.
I own a 2006 Mecedes-Benz E-350. The ACC Cabin FIlter is located in the engine compartment, passenger side by the firewall. It is fitted into the bottom of a black plastic manifold. There is a label on the top that reads " Air Conditioning equipment, only service by qualified technition." There is one nut that holds the unit in place, located in the front of the manifold at the end of a curved piece of plastic. Remove the nut and pivot the manifold back toward the firewall. It should come right off. The filter fits underneath. This is a drastic improvement from the W210 filters that required you to remove the glove box for access. I have a 2007 E-350. The above works with one exception. After you remove the nut, you have to disengage a plastic clip on the back right of the unit which will allow you to then lift manifold up to access filter.
According to most aftermarket filter manufacturers and e-catalog data, it appears the 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis does not have a cabin air filter. Just to be sure, might be worth a call to the parts dept. of any Ford-Mercury dealer to verify.
It is located under the backseat, next to the battery. This is for w210 model E class.
230 = 2.3*102 or 2.3 E 2

W210 is the chassis designation for the E class mercedes for model years 1995 to 2002. Prior to 1995 it was the W124 After 202 it was W211
Not all E-class have two batteries, for the ones that do, one is under the hood and the other is in the trunk.
