Behind the grille.
one of the sensors are between the two fans with wires going into it
In a 2000 Ford Focus, the cooling fans are activated primarily by the engine's temperature. When the engine reaches a specific temperature threshold, the engine control module (ECM) sends a signal to the cooling fan relay to turn the fans on. Additionally, the air conditioning system can also trigger the fans to run when the A/C is activated, regardless of the engine temperature, to help maintain optimal cooling.
check the relays to the to fan if its not them then check all the wires to the fans if you still havent founld a promblem with them yet the it might be the fan motors
Whenever the AC is turned on, both cooling fans also come on. Otherwise, during normal operation only one fan comes on when activated to maintain correct engine temp.
To determine if the cooling fan relay is bad in a Ford Windstar, you can start by checking if the cooling fans activate when the engine reaches operating temperature. If the fans do not turn on, inspect the relay by swapping it with a similar relay in the fuse box to see if the fans operate. Additionally, you can use a multimeter to test for continuity across the relay terminals when it should be activated. If the relay fails these tests, it may need to be replaced.
To replace the cooling fans on a Ford Windstar, first disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Remove the grille and any components obstructing access to the fans, such as the radiator shroud. Disconnect the electrical connectors and unbolt the fans from their mounts, then install the new fans by reversing the process, making sure to securely connect the wiring and check for proper operation before reassembling the front components. Always refer to the vehicle's service manual for specific instructions and torque specifications.
The radiator cooling fans are turned on when the heater control is set to defrost. This makes for better and more effective defrosting of the windshield
You probably have malfunctioning blower fans. A blown fuse can cause your blower fans to malfunction. The heat and air conditioning cooling is not being forced into the passenger cabin.
According to the 2003 Ford Windstar Owner Guide : In the Power Distribution Box ( which is " live " ) located in the engine compartment : Fuse ( # 107 ) is a 50 amp fuse for the engine cooling fan motors
The electric cooling fans may faulty.
There is no temperature control switch for the cooling fans. The PCM Power control module receives input from the temperature sensor on the water outlet housing. The PCM turns on the fans when the temperature reaches 210 degrees through the CCRM.
You stop driving it and repair the problem that is causing it to run hot. A complete cooling system service is in order. Drain the coolant, replace the thermostat, replace the coolant, check the function of the water pump, the thermal switch for the cooling fans and the cooling fans themselves. Clean the exterior of the radiator and flush the radiator.
