Concert C is the clarinet's written D, so the notes for the major scale are D E F# G A B C# D
The key of D major has two sharps: F and C. There are three possible octave for the D scale on the clarinet. The notes to play are: D - E - F# - G - A - B - C# - D.
There is the Bb Soprano Clarinet, Ab Piccolo Clarinet(rare), Eb Soprano Clarinet, D Soprano Clarinet, C Soprano Clarinet(rare, cos people thinks it's too bright), A Clarinet, Basset Clarinet, Basset Horn, Alto Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Contra-Alto Clarinet, and Contrabass Clarinet!
G, F, E,D,C,D,E,D,c
d - c - d - c - a
If the song is in the key of C for the banjo, then the clarinet would have to be in the key of D, which is a whole step higher. If in D for banjo, then E for clarinet. Don't forget to use flats and sharps if needed, like if the key is E for banjo, then it's F# (which is also Gb) for clarinet.
You will have to get some lessons from a music teacher. = D
