Rear main engine seal or front transmission seals
coolant, motor oil, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid?
It is possible for coolant to leak out between the motor and transmission, if a freeze plug has been leaking. I had this problem on an old International Travelall I had. The motor will need to be pulled.
seal. expensive
Most likely it is the engine oil leaking into the front part of the transmission. There is a seal there -- the rear main seal -- that seals the end of the crankshaft where it exits the engine and connects to the flywheel or flexplate to transmit the engine power to the transmission. Engine oil is black in color, and automatic transmission fluid is largely red in color. Any dirty fluid can appear black or blackened, so it is good to clean all areas where the fluid is leaking, and then use a white paper towel to collect some of the freshly leaking fluid to determine its color.

Seriously? A 305 Chevy motor does not take "transmission fluid"! The transmission takes transmission fluid, and the motor takes oil. The 305 should hold 5 quarts of oil I believe. As for the transmission, I believe that all depends on what transmission you have. Seriously? A 305 Chevy motor does not take "transmission fluid"! If it is motor oil in the anti freeze, then it is either a cracked head, cracked engine block, or a head gasket blown. If it is transmission fluid in your antifreeze, then the radiator is leaking from the transmission cooler ----- although usually that would cause antifreeze to be in your transmission fluid.
Honda Manual Transmission Fluid is recommended for a 5-speed manual B16A motor. Amsoil Manual Transmission Fluid will also work in a 5-speed manual B16A motor.
thru the trany dipstick tube(the tube u pull the transmission dipstick out of) usally its at the back of the motor between the motor and the firewall. but you need to make sure you add the fluid while the motor is running, and the trany is in park.
Get under the vehicle and look to see if you can see the leaking freeze plug. If you can't then it may be between the motor and transmission. If so, you will have to remove the transmission to replace it.
The motor and transmission share the same fluid. So if you check the oil you are also checking the transmission fluid.
