Like the majority of GM products, it is located on tr driver's side, just inside the frame rail and directly under the driver area. Clip connector on the downstream side and threaded on the inlet. Autozone and O'reily and maybe others will tell you it is non-serviceable. Shoulda saw the look on their faces when I removed the filter and went back up there ad told them that was the non serviceable filter that I needed. Crossed the number and now have a fram filter installed. GM did go to a non-serviceable application but I think it was much later than 2004
