Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is very close with her family, and they have been with her frequently during her recovery, sometimes staying at the hospital (some rehabilitation hospitals have rooms set aside for family members) and at other times, visiting from Arizona and staying nearby at a hotel. Her husband lives in Houston, where she underwent much of her rehabilitation, so he could visit her daily. One of the pictures released to the public several months ago showed the congresswoman with her mother.
