In 1941, geneticists Edward Tatum and George Beadle published their work revealing that genes code for proteins, explaining for the first time how genes direct metabolism in cells.
Humans have about 23,000 protein-coding genes, a mere 1.5 percent of the genome. The rest is made up of what has been called 'junk DNA,' including fragments of DNA that don't code for any proteins and chunks of genes that regulate other portions of the genome.
However, this junk DNA has a role in regulating the expression of genes. And the genes are what make us what we are.

What carries genetic code?

The genetic code of organisms is carried by the DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid. It is inherited by children from their parents. The genetic code is carried by the DNA molecule. The DNA molecule is the one that stores all genetic information for most living things.

Genetic information is carried in ATP molecules?

ATP molecules carry energy, not genetic information. DNA carries genetic information. ATP does, however, contain a modified form of adenine, which is a base in DNA

What are the Components of genetic code?

The genetic code is carried by the macromolecule DNA. In particular, the sequence of nitrogen bases on the DNA determines the genetic code.
