Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh intermittently lived in Malta from 1949 to 1951. This was due to the fact that the Duke was stationed in Malta as a Royal Navy Officer in HM's service. They lived in Gwardamangia which is very near the harbour in Lord Mountbatten's residence. Princess Anne and Prince Charles stayed in England.
