Heroin comes from the opium poppy. the majority of it comes from the Middle East where poppy production is very large. THey wait fo the poppy seed pop to ripen, then they walk through and slice the skin of the pod to allow a white milky substance to ooze out, when it oxidizes it turns black, that is opium. The main ingredients in opium are morphine and codeine. The opium is refined into morphine, and then the morphine, with the addition of glacial acetic acid, is turned into heroin.

Alot of people do not know, that heroin, when metabolized, is morphine. By the time it hits your brain it is morphine. Heroin is simply diacetyl-morphine and is still prescribed in some countries as a legitimate pain killer available at the pharmacy. The only thing that sets heroin and morphine apart is the addition of an acetyl group in the heroin molecule. That extra acetyl group helps heropi penetrate the blood brain barrier much quicker than morphine, making it MUCH MUCH stronger.
