in the fuel tank
bad sending unit
NO they are not the same.
Most of the time, the fuel gauge is not the problem. The problem rests with the sending unit in the fuel tank. To fix it, you must replace the sending unit. This is done in different ways depending on the position of the tank in your particular truck.
It is right behind the distributor, It is hard to get to.
The oill sending unit is almost always on the back of the motor by the fire wall.
what would cause a oil pressure gauge to fluctuate on my 99 Chevy truck silverado i change the sending unit it does it mostly after it warmed up
In most cases it's the sending unit in the gas tank at fault. It would require dropping the gas tank to replace the sending unit.
The temperature sending unit for this truck is located in the cylinder head on the right hand side at the very back (right behind the exhaust outlet for #6 cylinder)...... you out ...........
It is located right behind the intake, sticking straight up.If your sitting in your truck look right at the middle of ur windshield it will be located right in that area on the engine.
In back of the engine, on top, just to the drivers side of the distributor.
the oil sending unit on your truck is located near the distrbutor on most Chevy engines for that year it look like a metal can with a wire connected to it that is the one for the gauge if its the light one then it has two wire connected to it some of these engines will have both right near the dis. some will have these senors near the oil filter.
In most cases it is the sending unit located in the fuel tank that is at fault. Replacement is necessary.
