The speedometer cable on a 1989 S10 is behind the steering wheel. The speed sensor is mounted on the transfer case tailshaft.
It uses a speed sonsor on the trannie
im having the same problem..... PLEASE HELP!!!!
There is no speedometer cable on a 1991 s10. Instead it has a vehicle speed Senor or vss for short. The vss is near the tail end of the transmission and has a green and violet set of wires that connect it to the drac module under your glove box then the draconian module is connected to the ecu which is then connected to the speedometer on the instrument cluster.
In a 1988 Chevrolet S10, the speedometer typically uses a mechanical speed sensor that operates based on a flexible, spinning cable connected to the transmission. As the vehicle moves, the transmission turns the cable, which spins a magnet inside the speedometer head. This magnetic field induces an electrical current in a coil, causing the needle on the speedometer to move and display the vehicle's speed. The faster the vehicle travels, the faster the cable spins, resulting in a higher speed reading.
The speedometer is electronic...there is no speedometer cable.
The most common reason for a speedometer to fail is a broken speedometer cable. Loosen the nuts on each end of the speedometer cable. Remove the speedometer cable retaining clips. Reverse the process to install the new speedometer cable.
