A vehicle's brakelight switch is typically mounted above and contacting the brake pedal arm; look for a set of wire-fed electro-mechanical contacts, usually. It should be one of the only wires coming from/to the area, but may be camoflaged by mounting on the firewall or up inside the dash guts adjacent to the arm. Note that the arm must be contacted, so trace it that way.
