Under the Front Passanger side wheel well. You'll need to take off the Plastic Covers inside the wheel well, but only the front two plastic pieces inside the well.
On a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire, the Engine Control Module (ECM) is typically located in the passenger compartment, behind the glove box. To access it, you may need to remove the glove box and potentially some surrounding panels. The ECM is a rectangular metal box and is usually mounted to the vehicle's structure.
The ECM is located on the driver's side, under the hood on a 2003 Pontiac Montana. It is on the driver's inner fender.
To remove the ECM (Engine Control Module) on a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical shorts. Then, locate the ECM, which is typically found under the dashboard or near the passenger side firewall. Both engines that are available in the sunfire are electrically controlled timing. You do not need to do anything to sett the timing, the ECM does all the work.
