The Intake Air Temperature sensor sends a reading to the main engine computer as to what temp the incoming air going into the engine is, for maximum engine fuel efficiency. On rio's, they often go bad due to their location in the intake manifold.. They are a bit tricky to get to, so take your time and use a 10mm socket with a 12-16" extension. They are located just to the right of the throttle body in the back area of the engine. Otherwise have a pro fix it.

The error code P0113 for my 2002 KIA Rio tells me I need a new IAT sensor. I called a KIA parts store and was told that the IAT sensor is in the meter air flow cylinder. Apparently the cylinder and sensor are all one part that costs around $214.00 CDN.

there is no MAP sensor on a Kia Rio from 2001 to 2005 they have Mass Air Flow Meters, and to change that you will have to remove the air box sitting next to the firewall as it it bolted to that box
