On the 4.0L it is right above the oil filter on the right side of the block. On the 5.2L is is on the back of the engine next to the distributor.

No, you should have at least 4-5" lift to clear 33's, less if you want to trim your fenders.
It is on the front of the engine, just above the oil filter.
You have a ground from the oil sender unit to the gauge. This is how you check a gauge. ground out the wire at the sender and it pegs out the gauge.

I have the same problem on my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 and was told it's a bad pressure monitor sender that wasn't reading the pressure correctly. I'm not sure if this is correct and I am continuing to look into the problem. MY 4.0 WOULD PEG OUT HIGH AFTER YOU STARTED IT. IT WAS ALWAYS THE SENSOR LOCATED BELOW THE DISTRIBUTER. NOT TOO HARD TO SEE. HAPPENED EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS( 50K-60K MILES)
