Philadelphia did not use a P mint mark on dollar coins until 1979.

For all other mints, the position on a Morgan dollar is above the DO in dollar.

The 1901 was produced in 3 US Mint facilities; Philadelphia, New Orleans and San Francisco. The mintmarks for each of these mints can be found on the reverse [tails] side of the coin, at the bottom just above the letter "O" in the word "DOLLAR". The letter "S" will indicate the coin was minted in San Francisco, the letter "O" will indicate the coin was minted in New Orleans and if there is no letter there at all then that will indicate the coin was minted in Philadelphia and will be shown in this reply as 1901-P. The values for some of the grades of this coin are shown in the chart below. High grade uncirculated coins are scarce as can be seen by the values. Philadelphia didn't use a P mint mark on $1 coins until 1979, so a "P" on a 1922 Peace dollar is either something that was added later or some kind of damage.
