Titanic's wreck site is located 963 miles northeast of New York and 453 miles southeast of the Newfoundland coastline.

The Titanic is on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean some 2.5 mi (4.02 km) down. She's a bit more than 370 mi (595.46 km) south-east of Mistaken Point, Newfoundland, and at 41°43′55″N 49°56′45″W.

The remains of the Titanic were eventually located approximately 13 miles southeast of the location of her last distress call. This distance contributed to part of the difficulty in locating the Titanic, which was finally discovered in 1985 by Robert D. Ballard. Once the Titanic was finally located and found, they realized that the ship had split apart when the bow (front) of the ship was a little more than half underwater. When this happened, the stern (rear) jerked backward, but then slowly raise to an 89º, and sank. Once the Titanic was found, the two pieces were found about 1,970 feet (600.456 meters) apart on the ocean floor, facing in opposite directions.
