on a laptop it is on either the left or right side. The sign that indicates that is is the port looks like a dot with a cord that branches off into three, two of them are dots and the middle one is an arrow.

∙ 15y agoThe most common place for a USB port to be is on the rear of the computer. close to the upper, middle of the computer. You are looking for a narrow slot that is about 1/4" by 3/8"... a vertical, rectangular hole. There are also usually (on newer computers) a few of these ports located on the front of the machine. The device or cable that you are plugging into the port will only fit one way, so don't force it.
