When first appeared in the series, Laboon had scars all over his head from bashing into the wall that seperates from the Red Line. Luffy battled Laboon, and vowed to meet Laboon soon, when he got stronger, so they could see who was truly the strongest. Before the crew left, Luffy painted the Straw Hat pirate skull on Laboon's head and told him not to ruin the mark by bashing into the wall. When Laboon was young, he followed Brook's ship. Brook and the crew played the song "Bink's Sake", and they became nakama. The crew decided they wouldn't be able to protect Laboon if they went any further, so they had Brook explain it to him, although Laboon refused to listen. The crew hid and pretended they weren't on the ship and sailed away, abandoning Laboon, hoping he wouldn't follow them. They arrived at the Twin Capes, and found out Laboon was following them the entire time, even through the storm they sailed through. The captain of the crew told Laboon to wait at the Twin Capes for two or three years while they sailed across the world. The crew ended up dying 10 years later in the New World, and Brook revived himself with the Revive Revive fruit, although he was a skeleton. Once Brook heard of the news about how Luffy and the crew met Laboon, he teared up, and vowed to meet Laboon once again in a year or two. It's currently been 50 years since Brook had seen Laboon.
